Mattie Marine Services

I'm Kirk Mattie, CEO of Mattie Marine Services. After more then 20 years working in the marine industry as a marine engineer, I developed a clear appreciation of the unique needs of seagoing professionals and marine operations.

I found that most maintenance programs were designed by computer programmers and company senior managers, where few had a real connection or understanding of working aboard ships. They too often missed the mark in the unique needs of ships crew using the programs.

I completed a Batchelor in Business Administration from St. Francis Xavier before I started exploring the world in my seagoing career. I took this perspective to each of the wide range of the responsibilities I held over the years. I developed an appreciation for the difficulties faced with remote management from the office, and the isolation from the crew.

From scraping the bilge to vessel manager, Electrical Tech Officer to Chief Engineer I held positons at many levels. In each one I noticed how properly designed accessible software could help in the daily lives of crew, and facilitate the proper flow of quality information to the ship managers. I finally started Mattie Marine Services and we got to work developing software with the crew in mind, and to provide the information needed. To create the programs I want to have onboard.
